Relyco’s new DigiPOP line of customizable digital packaging solutions for large format laser and digital printers is completely revolutionizing the industry with the ability to quickly and cost-effectively create unique personalized items whenever you or your customers need them.
Traditionally, if you wanted to produce items like custom golf ball sleeves or pocket folders, the process was time consuming and expensive. Even if you only wanted a few hundred of these items, you had to order thousands just to get the cost per item down. And, if you wanted to personalize these items, there was no way to do that on an offset press. With DigiPOP, you print as many items as you need, when you need them, and personalize them as you print them. The DigiPOP laser and digital substrate packaging templates are truly unique.

InfoTrends: Nine Reasons Why Digital Packaging is Growing
Last Updated on Thursday, 21 July 2011 12:48 Written by email@example.com Wednesday, 27 July 2011 09:00
Yesterday, Relyco launched its DigiPOP custom digital packaging solutions that enable printers to quickly, easily, and cost-effectively create personalized packaging and promotional items from over 120 substrate templates on most large
format laser printers and digital presses. Recently, InfoTrends released a report that discusses the growing market for products like DigiPOP and and the enormous market opportunity for personalized digital packaging. Here’s the report synopsis from InfoTrends…
Nine Reasons Why Digital Packaging is Growing
Digital package printing is poised for big growth as advances in digital printing technology can now feed heightened demand for shorter runs of packages and labels from consumer goods manufacturers. At the same time, while many printing markets are losing share to the Internet, packaging is a market that can’t be digitized. Package printers, converters, and commercial printers can all benefit by expanding into this market.
According to our 2010 Market Assessment: Color Digital Printing in Packaging and Label Converting, InfoTrends projects that digital package printing will grow 15.7% annually, rising from $1.8 billion in 2009 to over $3.7 billion in 2014. Packaging represents the single biggest analog-to-digital print opportunity in the graphic communications market.
Key growth contributors include:
- Increases in private labeling and resulting shorter runs
- Package testing
- Customizing for target markets or event marketing
- Making the package interactive
- Streamlined solutions for secure variable data label printing
- Improvements in supply chain management
- An emphasis on sustainability
- Expanded media options
- Available technology (e.g., the presses and beyond)
Advances in digital printing technology have created great opportunities for package printers, converters, and commercial printers to expand into this market. The technology is now well-established in the packaging market mainly because of its success in producing full- and spot-color labels for use in decorating food and beverage containers, personal care items, and other consumer goods. Another application area gaining ground, because of previous production methods being costly and time-consuming, is package prototyping and test runs.
The raise of retailers’ private brands, lower-cost alternatives to major brands, is also fueling the need for digital color in the packaging world. Retailers can leverage the technology to deliver better looking packages that grab consumers’ attention. Short run capabilities are attractive because they offer versioning at lower cost.
Major brands are also reaping benefits from digital printing. Consider Procter & Gamble (P&G), one of the largest makers of consumer goods in the world. It markets and supports over 350 brands globally. Languages, cultures, government regulations, and competition all spur continuous label and packaging development. Digital printing offers P&G and all major brands the advantages of speed, flexibility, short runs, and lower cost.
No matter how you package it, the time for digital packaging is here. To assist print and packaging service providers in maximizing sales strategies and marketing efforts, InfoTrends launched a Packaging Business Development Strategies advisory service. The service provides a “how-to” approach to effectively go after the digital packaging opportunity and offers existing service providers the tools to enhance their efforts.

USA Today Reports on QR Codes for Realtors
Last Updated on Thursday, 21 July 2011 08:53 Written by firstname.lastname@example.org Thursday, 21 July 2011 08:53
Relyco has been talking about QR (Quick Response) codes as a way realtors can provide instant information about each property they are offering since the beginning of the year. Now, the mainstream media is jumping on the QR code bandwagon for the real estate market. A recent article, Mobile apps, quick response codes sell homes, published in USA Today highlights how successful realtors are using QR codes to help sell homes.
From the USA TODAY article:
Some brokers are using quick response codes — or QR codes — on their “For Sale” signs and flyers. QR codes are the small square versions of a bar code that look like ink blots and they’re popping up more frequently in newspaper ads and other locations. Scan the code with a smartphone loaded with a QR app and it takes you directly to a website with photos, additional details and in some cases videos.
The value that Relyco delivers to realtors looking to add QR codes to their signs and riders is simplicity and affordability. Anybody who wants to add QR codes to signage can simply print a QR code on Relyco REVLAR waterproof paper right from any standard laser printer. With an adhesive backing, the QR code printed on REVLAR can then be affixed to any sign – saving you the cost of having to have new signs created every time you want to add a new QR code. Plus, REVLAR is durable and built to withstand the elements.
QR codes are not just for realtors. If you want to instantly take people to more information about anything (product details, calorie counts on menu items, how to videos, information on zoo animals, history on specific museum items, much more), you an easily do it with a QR code, print it on a REVLAR, and add it to your signage for pennies on the dollar.
