What Pressure Seal Machine Is Best for Your Business?

Buy Pressure Seal Machine

Now that you’ve decided to move into the world of fast, efficient and affordable pressure seal processing, you may be wondering what kind of pressure seal machine is right for your business.

Before you commit to a price range, you’ll want to make a few notes and make sure that you have internal consensus on a few key specs for your new pressure seal equipment:

  1. How many pressure seal pieces do you plan to print each month?
  2. What size (form dimensions) do you want those pieces to be?
  3. What fold types do you want to utilize?
  4. Where in your office do you have room to keep your new pressure seal printer?

At Relyco, we are big fans of the Formax line of pressure seal machines which we’ve found to be the most reliable machines. In this post, we’ll look at the different uses of a few Formax pressure seal machines.

Desktop Model for Low-Volume Checks & Invoices

Formax FD 1200

Fold Types: Z, C, Uneven Z, Uneven C, Half, Custom
Form Dimensions: Up to 14” (8.5’’ W x 14” L)
Speed: Up to 35 forms per minute

If you only need to print checks and invoices with a very low monthly volume (10,000 or fewer), the Formax FD1200 is a smart choice.

It has a very small footprint (11.6” L x 14” W x 14.5” H) and it can easily sit on a corner of your desk. At 55 pounds this economical pressure seal solution is the lightest of the group here.

Tabletop Models for Mid-Volume Production

Formax FD 1502

Fold Types: Z, C, Uneven Z, Uneven C, Half, Custom
Form Dimensions: Up to 14″ (8.5’’ W x 14” L)
Speed: Up to 100 sheets per minute

The most popular mid-volume machine is the Formax FD 1502. Depending on the model, this folder/sealer can be outfitted with either an output catch tray or an integrated conveyor that allows for sequential stacking of output documents.

At 82 pounds and with relatively compact dimensions (24” L x 17” W x 13” H) the FD1502 fits comfortably on your tabletop but it’s probably not one you’ll want to move frequently.

Formax FD 2002IL

Fold Types: Z, C, Half, Custom
Form Dimensions: Up to 14″ (8.5’’ W x 14” L)
Speed: Printer dependent

Ideal for confidential mailers like pin notifications or lab reports, the printer-compatible FD2002IL improves the efficiency and confidentiality of the documents being processed.

By connecting directly to a range of popular desktop printers, including a number of TROY MICR printers, documents flow directly from the printer through an enclosed path into the folder/sealer and exit ready for stamping and mailing. Without its optional conveyer, this model dimensions are 19” W x 46” L x 23” H.

Formax FD 2054

Fold Types: C, V, Z in 11-17” Forms, Uneven C & Z 14” Forms, Up to 35 Custom Folds
Form Dimensions: Up to 17″ (Min: 3.5” W x 5” L / Max: 12.25” W x 18” L)
Speed: Up to 16,450 forms per hour

The FD2054 is a great choice if you use a number of different fold formats. Because it’s an automatic fold adjusting machine, you never need to manually set each fold and the machine can store up to 35 frequently used custom formats.

While still considered a midsize folder/sealer, at 127 pounds and 55” fully extended, we recommend the FD2054 be put on a sturdy table. Without its optional 18” conveyer, this model requires a tabletop area of at least 20” W x 43” L.

Floor Models for High-Volume Production

FD 2094 / FD 2084

Fold Types: Z, Uneven Z, C, V, Custom
Form Dimensions: up to 20” in length (3”-12” W x 5”-20” L)

Designed with myriad automation features for ease of use, the FD 2094 & FD 2084 models give you all-in-one folder/burster/sealer capability to meet your higher-volume needs.

The FD 2094 is 950 lbs and 76” long while the FD 2084 is 1,450 lbs and 146” long so both of these floor models require their own little corner in your office.

FD 2200

Fold Types: Z, uneven Z, C, Half, Custom
Form Dimensions: Up to 25” long (11.5” W x 25” L)

At 12,000 lbs and 152” L x 30” W x 56” H, this floor model is one of the largest on the market.
