Why waterproof paper?
Whenever printed materials will be subject to frequent handling, wet surroundings or extreme environmental conditions, waterproof paper is the best option. It holds up better than standard paper or lamination because it’s a synthetic material that is made of plastic, yet it has the appearance, smoothness and printability of paper.
REVLAR paper is waterproof, tear-proof, durable, impervious to grease and chemicals, weatherproof and specifically designed to withstand high/low temperature fluctuations. It is an extremely tough product; some have even called it “virtually indestructible” after running it through various durability tests. Yet, it can still be scored, punched or die-cut, which makes it versatile.
Durable, washable and printable
REVLAR waterproof synthetic paper is so durable that even complete and lengthy submersion in liquid has no effect. Because of this tolerance for water, it’s easy to clean! If REVLAR gets dirtied, you can just wipe it down with a wet cloth or use a mild cleanser.
Printing on REVLAR is a simple one-step process. Just run it through a dry toner laser printer. (Pro tip: We recommend fanning the paper to eliminate any static build-up.) When you use waterproof synthetic paper, you eliminate the need for a multi-step waterproofing process like lamination, which is costly and time-consuming.
One brand, three outstanding products
The REVLAR brand includes three of our synthetic paper products. Each product is designed to align with specific customer needs, applications and budgets. Explore each waterproof option in more depth below.
REVLAR Premium is the elite synthetic paper. It is a rigid polyester product that is compatible with all dry toner laser, offset and flexo printers. REVLAR Premium comes in white, specialty colors, finishes, perforated die-cuts, removable labels and permanent labels. The coating on REVLAR Premium is best in class, which enables Premium to run on printers with superior runnability and static resistance. Customers looking for a rigid polyester with increased opacity, increased whiteness and optimum runnability should consider REVLAR Premium.
REVLAR Select is the leading competitive synthetic solution on the market. Like REVLAR Premium, it is a rigid polyester that is compatible with all dry toner laser, offset and flexo printers. Through our manufacturing process, we are able to utilize the same base/core material as Premium with an industrial coating that is thinner compared to the coating on REVLAR Premium. Through this key difference, the same level of durability is maintained, but cost savings are possible.
REVLAR Soft is a unique synthetic paper that is made from polyolefin. This type of plastic results in a product that feels soft and silky to the touch, with a significant reduction of gsm. Due to the material’s pliability, REVLAR Soft is extremely easy to fold, unlike a rigid polyester. REVLAR Soft is compatible with dry toner laser production machines, offset and flexo printers. REVLAR Soft is an ideal product when customers are looking for a softer, pliable material and working with budget requirements.

At the YMCA we are currently revamping our swim lesson program to a new, more streamlined program. The use of waterproof paper in the water during our lessons will help us provide a more consistently delivered program. I share that with you because I honestly believe you’re helping us make a difference in many children’s lives. I use the Canon IR V to print the lesson guides and skill guides to be able to use them in the water. So far they’ve lasted over 8 hours in the water consistently.Read More- Christina Weiss Aquatics Director , YMCA
